Shields United FC was formed in January 07' by Gareth Allen who is currently club secretary and manager. The clubs first home is Chuter Ede CA in South Shields, where considerable work on the pitch has been done to match the Northern Alliance League standards. Click here to read more

Manager not happy

Shields Uniteds manager Beanie was fuming this weekend when ten players were "not available" for a number of reasons. United travelled to high flying Whitley Bay Town and had to make two match day signings including a goalkeeper.

The less said about this game the better. Shields went up with only 12 players which included our reserve goalkeeper, myself (the gaffer) playing centre half and a 16 year old on the bench.

Shields United played out an entertaining match with established Alliance outfit Jesmond at Millers Dene. With nine first teamers out for United they were unlucky not to go ahead after 3 minutes when Kyle Yorston fired wide of the left hand post, minutes later a cross by Yorston just over shot the cross bar.

A very tight match saw Killingworth pip Shields United in a game where chances were few and far between. United should have went ahead after an excellent run by Tony Fenwick, going past three players before trying to chip the keeper instead of burying the shot.

Having gone on a good run of three clean sheet Shields United face there trickiest opponents for a month without a host of key players. Goalkeeper Shaun Newbrook, Defenders Gareth Adams, Jevon Jull and midfielders Gary Spottiswood, tony fenwick and Nathan Walker are all defnitely out, Lee Hetherington is also struggling to be available.
