For Love Not Money - End of Season Round Up 05/05/2008 STRIKER Davie Southern led the celebrations as Gateshead secured promotion to the Blue Square North with a 2-0 UniBond Premier play-off final victory over Buxton. Southern was punching the air in front of a bumber crowd of almost 1,500 at the International Stadium as second half goals from Kris Gate and Paul Brayson saw the Tynesiders promoted - and sparked scenes of jubilation as the players mobbed boss Ian Bogie. |

Formerly Whitley Bay Baptist Church FC, the club is competing for the first time this year under its new name, after the church they are based at gained its own status last Easter. |

It was a closer affair in the Eric Anderson Cup final with North Shields Gunner holding their nerve to take the trophy on penalties after they'd drawn 1-1 with Blyth South Beach CC. |

FLNM Non League Round-Up - Sat April 12th 12/04/2008 Sharp-shooting Robbie Dale smashed in a nine minute hat-trick as Blyth Spartans turned on the style and hit Worcester for six. The emphatic Croft Park victory just about ensured that Spartans will be playing Blue Square North football again next season and gave the fans something to cheer in what has been, at times, a tough season for the green and whites. |

The South Shields hit-man receieved the ball 25 yards from goal in the 74th minute and didn't hesitate as he smashed a superb drive into the top corner of the net to win it. |

FLNM Non-League round-up - Sat Mar 22 22/03/2008 Whitley Bay's Wembley dreams are hanging by a thread after a first half horror show at Lowestoft left them with a four-goal deficit to claw back in the second leg at Hillheads a fortnight on Saturday. The Northern League's defending Champions made a nightmare start in the FA Vase semi-final when they conceeded in just the fourth minute, Richard Woodrow slipping the ball past Terry Burke, and ten minutes later Bay were reduced to ten men when Brian Rowe was sent for an early bath for retaliation. |

City were celebrating when Chris Todd put through his own goal in the 64th minute, but for all their intense pressure the Minstermen just couldn't find the net again. |

In the Premier Division, Billy Mill beat Seatonburn Moorhouse 3-0, Shankhouse United thrashed Ridley Park Hotel 5-0 and the top-of-the-table clash between Burradon and Formica was abandoned. |

They were left with their heads in their hands as the unlucky Phil Cave and skipper Steve Bowey both failed to convert from the spot after the sides couldn't be seperated over an action-packed 120 minutes. |

The Minstermen's defender flung himself full length to send a Nicky Roe corner rippling into the roof of the net in the 16th minute for the only goal of the game at Rushden & Diamonds. |
