Miss Sunday Sun Crossbar Challenge

The current Miss Sunday Sun, Cheryl Davison, turned up to watch West Jesmond take part in the For Love Not Money crossbar challenge.

Cheryl, 24, said: "I’m not a huge football fan and haven’t been near a football since I was six, but I’m willing to give anything a go."

"My niece plays football and has been signed up, so I’m hoping that by watching her I will have picked up a few tips."

After changing from her stylish clothes into a sporty outfit supplied by the Sunday Sun, the players were soon putting her through her paces.

Sticking to the rules of the For Love Not Money competition, Cheryl did her best to strike the ball from the halfway line and hit the crossbar without it bouncing while being filmed on camera.

Despite a number of valiant attempts the doctors’ receptionist failed to get anywhere near the goal and eventually admitted defeat.
