now then now then now then ! the med were away to the balloon and stayed over in the airport hotel on saturday the manager relaxed the players with a visit to a few pubs and clubs
the morning of the match and the players looked well ok

greetings to all and welcome to the new issue of the heaton meadowfield football club
well the cup draw against st joesphs saw the top two teams in the league go head to head for a place in the 1/4 finals
team news dinnas returned to the midfield as jevan was injured carl aziz was very drunk and on the bench ,kelsey was grafting so in came the gaffer again and soggo was repositioned to sweeper and the jockanese on the left wing
the away support stocked themselves up with bottles of lager and cider and were in full voice as the team appeared from the church dressing rooms "pogo if you love the med" and
"we hate man u cause they beat us 7-2" being two of the loudest songs
clark won the toss and the med kicked the game off and were immediatly on the defensive for the 1st 20 mins with st joes testing the meds back four a great sliding tackle from soggo upset the st joes forward who was shouting to the ref "here cho this juggles moi has just toe capped is man "
a bulid up of passes from the meds engine room and clark is onto it into the box and with his right foot strokes it past the keeper 1-0 the meds supporters are now doing the conga along the side of the pitch and singing "tell me ma me ma i wont be home for tea im going to blue flames" ( well its never going to be wembley)

robbie gives the team a talking to at the break davie g is sharing the capstan full strengths out to the lads
jimmy rolls his sleeves up to reveal the guns and were off with the 2nd half ,talk about 1 way traffic how the med wernt dead and buried was beyond me
shots from all angles rained in on clarkies goal and some fine saves kept the med in the game
10mins to go a right wing corner comes in clarkie shouts keepers and flaps at it like a seal and st joes score with a easy header
1-1
still st joesphs went for the winner and bang on full time st joes c/forward hits 1 which is flying into the top corner clarkie flies through the air and tips it round the post
great save but one from the cameras
the ref blows for full time and a period of 15 mins e/way
nothing much happened here other than the turk staggered onto the pitch to great applause from the med fans who are now singing at the top of their voices nathan beckham is up a tree orchestrating the chants "we shall not we shall not be moved "
then to top it all off it only goes to penalties

as the med trudged off the pitch the fans were asking the question "is there any bait on at the club"
as the team approached the changing room alan brazil, who was covering the game for radio 5 live asked clark how he thought this would affect the meds season , to which clark replied
"i havnt got time to talk to you as wor lass has asked is to get some bisto from the co-op for me dinner shes a smashing cook wor lass like"
its only a cup at the end of the day next week theres another cup tie and its away
the med is running 17 coaches from the club for any fans that want to go the price is £2.40 which includes your match ticket and a sandwich
would fans please note the home team has requested that the med band please leave the drums and bugles at home as these are not permitted in the ground

heaton turned up with a depleted squad and were forced to make a few changes
in goal returned steven clark

1st game of the season and heaton got a fine draw at promotion favourites st joesphs (formerly the star inn)
with no referee available a member of st joesphs refereed the game and st joes went straight on the attack for the 1st quarter of the game and scored a great goal
the central midfielder went past 3 players before chipping the keeper from 25 yards
1-0
halftime and after given some new tactics by there manager heaton piled on the pressure and were rewarded with a penalty by the home referee (how many times would that happen)
up stepped the skipper "jimmy 2 guns" who blasted the ball into the net
1-1
heaton roared on by there 5 supporters then had a chance to seal the points when big neil clayton went one on one with the keeper but just as he was about to shoot the sun came out and nearly blinded him which he then spewed his shot
the game ended 1-1 and heaton got a well deserved point
