United got back to winning ways on saturday with a 7-1 win against league newcomers Shields United. It was always going to be tough for the Shields lads with a lot of players missing but that didnt deter Amble from handing out a drubbing.

Amble came through what would be called after the game a shambles of a performance with a fortunate 3-1 win. With players still away on summer jaunts it was a chance for other players to shine but instead a lacklustre performance was the order of the day with all players showing that they think its easy to stroll these games.

Riddell Salvo Moves United Top

A second half salvo by Darren Riddell gave Amble maximum points to take them top of the Wade Associates Northern Alliance Second Division.
Manager Steve Gibbard and his Assistant Ali Turver had to contend without seven first team players as holidays injuries one transfer and registration problems took there toll on the squad.
